Here at Food from Fife, we have put together a selection of delis, shops and bakeries which are perfect for sourcing picnic provisions, packed lunches hot drinks and baking for fuelling your walk along the Fife Coastal Path this winter.
Post & Pantry, Aberdour (Limekilns to Burntisland)
Post & Pantry opened in 2017 after a complete renovation of the village’s old post office, and the shop has since mastered the balance of an efficient post office, whilst also offering delicious deli treats and delicious picnic boxes. These can be produced for a range of group sizes and are filled with savoury and sweet treats that can be enjoyed anywhere, with the option of a traditional picnic basket or a re-usable branded tote bag. These delicious picnic boxes require at least 48 hours’ notice, so it is best to plan ahead. Vegetarian options and drink pairings are also available.
Opening hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: 9-5pm, Wednesday and Saturday: 9-12.30pm, and Sunday: Closed.

Balgove Larder, St Andrews (Cambo Sands to Leuchars)
Just on the outskirts of St. Andrews, Balgove Larder has a selection of freshly baked scones and baking as well as a range of deli foods and produce available from their Farm Shop and Butchery counter. Balgove Larder has a well-deserved reputation for their locally produced food and drink: even their scotch eggs have won awards! From sausage rolls baked on the premises and a well-stocked cheese and deli counter, to cakes and sweet treats, there’s plenty to allow you to put together a tempting picnic.
The farm shop is open Monday -Sunday 9am – 5pm.
Puddledub, Kirkcaldy High Street (Burntisland to Buckhaven)
Puddledub is a family run butcher based in Auchertool, West Fife. Their delicious artisanal bacon and pork is farmed and produced on the farm and sold direct to a loyal customer base. A relative newcomer, the Puddledub butchers’ shop is a useful one for those looking for produce to eat on the go. Alongside the fresh meats there’s a range of local fruit, veg and breads.
They are open Monday to Saturday 9am-5pm.
Elie Deli, Elie (Buckhaven to Elie)
Situated in the popular seaside town of Elie, the family-owned Elie Deli has all that picnic goers may need, from filled rolls and baguettes, to coffee and croissants. The deli bakes its own bread, croissants, and pain au chocolate fresh every morning and offers a large collection of Scottish gins and an extensive range of wines for those looking for a more grown-up picnic. For those with a sweet tooth, the deli also offers their own selection of sweets and sugar-free confectionary, which are just the job for a little energy boost during those long walks along the coastline.
They are open Monday to Thursday 8am-5pm, Friday and Saturday 8am-5.30pm, and Sunday 8am-4pm.

Post & Pantry, Aberdour, FifeBarnett’s Bakery, Anstruther (Elie to Cambo Sands)
A local favourite, Barnett’s Bakery has several shops across Fife, including Elie and Pittenweem, which are always popular. As well as their delicious focaccia, ciabatta, breads and filled rolls, they have a changing selection of cakes and sweet or savoury bakes like empire biscuits, cream cakes, sausage rolls and quiches.
Barnett’s Bakery is open 8am-4pm Monday to Saturday, and are closed on a Sunday, so make sure to stock up ahead of any weekend rambling.
